  • YouTubeTLDR

⚡ A lightweight, self-hosted YouTube video summarizer with Gemini AI Does what it says. Works wonderfully to summarize and organize YouTube videos. I watch a lot of videos for my podcast and I don’t always remember details especially when they are about specific weapons or perks in Destiny 2.

  • High quality, low…

We’ll install gifsicle via brew install gifsicle and throw our GIF into it with the following: gifsicle -O3 --lossy=65 --gamma=1.2 kitties2.gif -o kitties3.gif So what’s going on here?` O3 is essentially gifsicle’s most efficient mode, doing fancy things like delta frames so changes between frames are stored rather than each frame separately lossy=65 defines the level of compression, 65 has been a good middle ground for me (200 I believe is the highest compression level) gamma=1.2 is a bit confusing, but essentially the gamma controls how the lossy parameter reacts to (and thus compresses) colors. 1 will allow it to be quite aggressive with colors, while 2.2 (the default) is much less so. Through trial and error I’ve found 1.2 causes nice compression without much of a loss in quality The resulting GIF is now 23.8MB, shaving a nice additional 22MB off, so we’re now at a meager 5% of our original filesize.

  • Building a low…

This project is to use my ancient Pi Zero as a super low power bugout media and file server. This is inspired by jcorp-nomad project that uses an ESP32 board for a ultra tiny, low-power, portable media server. My build has has: 12 movies 1 Season of a tv show 35 YouTube vidoes for the kids 3 music playlists A small collection of HTML & classic Flash games 2 full length wrestling live events This setup broadcasts a wifi network and makes all the movies, music, YouTube videos, and games availabe at http://IP_ADDR:3939 and a mini Wikipedia at http://IP_ADDR:8080. I love builds and ideas like this. A low-powered, likely forgotten piece of technology give new life as a single tasker. It solves a problem. Its a simple solution to getting information and entertainment in the short term.
